She was born in Niedzwiada, Poland on May 7, 1931 to the late Apolonia Krolikowska. Living in Poland she endured the cruelty of World War II and the hardship of poverty that followed. In 1966 she immigrated to the United States to care for her elderly aunt, Helena Grodzki, Frackville.

Kasia worked as a sewing machine operator at the former Charles Rabin Garment Factory, Frackville. In 1982, she married Stanley Jakubowski and they lived happily for 13 years until his death in 1995.

She was a devout member of the former St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Frackville, where she was a member of the St. Ann’s Ladies Guild and the St. Cecelia Choir. She helped in church activities such as festivals, church maintenance and pierogy making. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and her garden.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Stanley P. Jakubowski in 1995 and a brother Stanislaw Mandro in Poland. She was the last immediate member of her family. She is survived by a cousin, Virginia Ligas of Chicago, and many cousins in Poland to whom she showed much kindness and good will. She will be remembered by local friends who have been her support for many years. She was appreciative of the care shown to her by her physician of 32 years Dr. Joseph Weber, the late Barbara Weber and the Kubick family of Port Carbon. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 14, 2022, at 10:00 am in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Giuseppe C. Esposito, as celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church Monday morning from 9:00 am until the time of mass. Interment will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
