Obituaries
Born in Shenandoah, April 12, 1950, he was a son of the late Professor Albin and Anne Plasky Tacelsoky.
He attended St. Joseph’s Grade School, Mahanoy City and graduated from Marian High School, class of 1968; he was a 1972 graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Bacholar of Science Degree in Agronomy.
John was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Agriculture Department for 33 years and retired as Chief of the Division of Health and Safety. He worked in cooperation with Penn State University to establish the Agromedicine Program. He also was a member of the Governor’s Pesticide Advisory Board working nationally with the Environmental Protection Agency Review Committee on Management Laboratory Practices.
Locally, John was a member of St. Michel’s Ukrainian catholic church, Frackville and a Life Member of the Rev. James A Hogan, Knights of Columbus Council #2580, Frackville.
Most important to John were his family and faith in God. John was a loving husband, father, son, brother and son-in-law. He was kind and compassionate person to anyone he knew or met.
John always considered himself a luck man who enjoyed life and felt blessed with his loving family, good friends and the many adventures that his life bestowed on him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Col. Robert J. Tacelosky and a sister; Mary Ann Muscavage.
John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Ann (Dorish) Tacelosky and daughter; Dr. Diana M. Tacelosky, a sister, Tecla Pierotti, CA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Religious Services will be held Tuesday, July 5, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2nd and Oak Sts. Frackville, with Rev. Petro Zvarych as celebrant. Relative and friends are invited to visit with family Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville; Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Englewood/Frackville.
All are asked to follow CDC guidelines with wearing masks and following social distancing when attending visitation and religious services
