Julia Semanchick Gera, 90, of Frackville passed away peacefully Friday morning at ManorCare Health Services, Pottsville.
Born in Maizeville, March 25, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Ella Kudla Semanchick. She attended West Mahanoy Township Schools
Julia was a loving wife and mother and very dedicated to her church, she was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Maizeville and active with her husband in St. Mary’s Byznatine Catholic Church, St. Clair. as a member of the choir and the ladies baking society.
She worked as a seamstress at the former Marks Manufacturing, Frackville and several local garment factories.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Joseph Gera, in 2001; three sisters; Mary Soucheck, Anna Mack and Helen Watunya; two brothers; George and Michael Semanchick.
Julia is survived by her son Joseph S. Gera and his wife Cheryl, New Paltz, NY; a sister; Eva Alshon, Frackville, a brother; John Semanchick, Bayville, NJ; Godchildren are; Theresa Burock, David Kowatch, Kathie Pauly, Mark Alshon and Julie Ann Butchko; several nieces and nephews
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Maizeville with Rev. Roman Pitula as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 8 to 9:30 a.m Monday morning at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville. Panaheda Service will be at 9:15 a.m. Interment will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville
