Andrew E. “Andy” Gergal, 86, of Frackville passed away peacefully Sunday evening at his residence with his family by his side.
Born in Shenandoah, William Penn, he was a son of the late Andrew and Mary Demanchick Gergal. He was a graduate of West Mahanoy Township High School, class of 1947.
He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War and attained the rank of Staff Sargent. He was last stationed with the 4709th Defense Wing.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Frackville, William Penn Fire Company and a member of the Mountain Valley Senior Golf League.
Andy worked as a manager for the Stout’s Ferry Preparation Company, St. Clair; he also was a self-employed carpenter for many years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Mary Waiks
Andy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret T. Gensure Gergal, Frackville; two sons; Scott and his wife Deanna, Harrisburg, and Jeffrey and his wife Kim, Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren; Elizabeth, Andrew, Catherine, Lindsey and Stephen; two sisters, Ann Staskel, Shenandoah and Betty Brutto, Pottstown; several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Robert Finlan, pastor, as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9:30 a.m. till time of Mass at the Church. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
