Robert A. Walitis

Robert A. Walitis, 87, of Frackville, passed away peacefully Friday morning at Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Frackville. Born in Frackville, June 9, 1927 he was a son of the late Anthony and Monica Powlkis Walitis. He attended West Mahanoy Township schools and was a US Army veteran of World War II, having served as a radio operator in the European Theatre of Operations. Robert worked as a nurse practitioner for 35 years at the Wernersville Hospital. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Annunciation BVM Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #398, Frackville. He was preceded in death by a brother William Walitis; two sisters; Monica Savoia and Helene Lazar; and a nephew Kenneth Sausser. Robert is survived by a sister Geraldine Sausser, Frackville; nephews; Randall Sausser, Ronald Sausser and Vincent Sovoia; niece, Susan West; great nieces and great nephews. Gravesite services with Military Honors will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Louis Cemetery, Englewood/Frackville.
