Born in Gilberton on August 24, 1943, to the late John and Margaret (Lapachinsky) Klem.
She is survived by her sister, Denise, and her brother-in-law, John (Jack) Katulis, Harrisburg, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death my her sisters, Rita Katulis, Eleanor O'Shura, Theresa Zubris and a brother, Joseph Klem.
Leona graduated from Mahanoy Area High School, Class of 1961. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary for the Continental Hose Co. # 3, Gilberton.
She was a caregiver for both of her parents until their deaths. She retired from Hollander Home Fashions, Frackville in 2010.
Leona was proud of her Lithuanian heritage, being a coal miner's daughter and enjoyed eating the ethnic foods served at the festivals in the area.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 8th at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Frackville, with Fr. Brian Miller, pastor. as the celebrant. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. in the church until the time of the mass. Interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery, Englewood, Frackville.
