Kimberly A. Schappell
Kimberly A. Schappell, 45, of Pottsville, formerly of Frackville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in Bethlehem.

Born in Pottsville, December 19, 1975, she was a daughter of Barbara Slovick Schappell and the late Ronald Schappell.

She was a graduate of the former Cardinal Brennan High School, class of 1994.  She attended Dental School at the North Vo-Tech and attended Bloomsburg University to study psychology with a minor in anthropology.  She loved to read and enjoyed learning new skills.

Kimberly had many interests and tried several career paths, but she always found herself back to gardening.  She studied and worked toward becoming a master gardener; her ambition was to appear on the Martha Steward Show.  Her many talents included jarring homemade pickles and bruschetta, home improvement projects and of course her garden. She was the lead merchandiser for Ivy Acres Nursery.

Kimberly was featured in the Schuylkill Living Magazine in 2015 for her soap business, Bird on a Wire Soaps, she had been producing soaps for 10 years and won 2 soap contests in California with her own creative scents.  She was thankful and inspired by all of her customers who used her soaps.

She was adventurous as she enjoyed the Delaware beaches, searching and finding sea glass, visiting New York City, kayaking and hiking in Vermont.  She loved her dogs and was kind to all animals.

Kim loved her family; she was close to her mother Barbara and is especially thankful for her sister Kelly Schappell who was by her side in every way and always supported and encouraged her.  She is also survived by her Uncle Joe and Aunt Helen Tamusaitis; cousins and many friends.

The family wishes to extend their grateful appreciation to her team on doctors at Rothman Orthopedic Center; including, Dr. Abraham and his team; the Fox Chase Cancer Center, Dr. Von Meuren, nurse Leah and nurse Leah for all their compassion and care. They are also thankful for Fr. Jankaitis, for his prayers, words of encouragement and of course his friendship.

It is with great spirit and peace the family asks to be respectful of their “quiet stillness” at his time.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pottsville, at the convenience of the family.  Interment will be at a later date.
