Joseph J. Kovalewski, Jr, 71, of Frackville died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 3

Born in Shenandoah, August 31, 1949, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Irene T. Lukasik Kovalewski, Sr.  He was a graduate of Shenandoah High School, class of 1967.

Joseph worked as the manager of shipping and receiving for the Eureka Saw Company, Mt. Carmel; he later was a salesman for the Rinaldi Chevrolet dealership, Shenandoah; and retired as a delivery driver for the former S&Y Paints, Pottsville.

Joseph played the accordion and was a member of the Cruisers Polka Band for 30 years, traveling to many locations throughout the area entertaining the crowds at many festivals, church picnics and local pubs.

He was a former member of the Lions Club and was a member of the Sacred Heart of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ringtown.

He is survived by his wife Joann Felegi Kovalewski, Frackville; a daughter; Janette Ortman and her husband Arthur, Millville; 2 grandchildren; Arthur E. Ortman, II and his wife Laura, Jacksonville, NC and Ambreelinne Birth and her husband Nathan, Milton; two brothers; Stephen and his wife Pam, Dillsburg and Michael Kovalewski, Ringtown; nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be private and at the convenience of the family
