Thaddeus W. “Ted” Niedzwiecki, 95, a lifelong resident of Frackville, passed away Tuesday at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born in Frackville, January 24, 1922, he was a son of the late Joseph and Josephine Rafalowski Niedzwiecki. He graduated from Frackville High School, class of 1940.

Ted enlisted in the Army Air force and served during WWII.  He retired after 24 years of service as a B29 Master Sergeant, central fire control gunner with the 73rd Bomb Wing, 20th Airforce on Saipan.

Active in the community Ted was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, was active with the former St. Ann R. C. Church, Frackville having served as lector for many years and helped with many parish functions.

Ted was an organizer (Charter Member) Past Exalted Ruler and Past Elk of the Year of the B.P.O. E. Elks Lodge #1533, Frackville, and he was part of the winning State Ritualistic Championship in the East.  He was a member of the Goodwill Fire Company, Southend Field and Stream, and the Frackville Senior Citizens.

An avid golfer he had several Hole-In-One’s, he also enjoyed the outdoors and working in his garden.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant son Robert, who died of infection at the age of 6 months; sisters Jean Powanda and Elsie McHale; six brothers; Joseph, Chester, Aloysius, Leonard, Alfonse and Albert.

Ted is survived by his wife of 68 years Mary Walukiewicz Niedzwiecki, Frackville; a sister Alice Meros, Potomac, MD; many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon Monday in St. Ann R. C. Church, Frackville, with Rev. Robert Finlan, pastor, as celebrant.  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville and again from 11 till time of Mass at the church Monday morning.  Interment with Military Honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville
