John Harhigh
 John Harhigh, 82 of Frackville, passed away Saturday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
born in frackville, July 8, 1933, he was a son of the late Harry and Helen Socker Harhigh.
John graduated from Frackville High School, Class of 1951, and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Penn State University in 1955.
He served in active duty in the Army as a Specialist Second class from Jan. 4, 1956 until Dec. 20, 1957, and as a reservist until March 31, 1962,, becoming a specialist five. 
Throughout his career he served as a director for several state agencies, including the Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Department of Welfare.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #398, Frackville Elks Lodge #1533 and the Knights of Columbus.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary S. Shabosky Harhigh, Frackville; a son, Gregory Harhigh and his wife Christine, Harrisburg; a daughter, Yvonne Harhigh and her husband Scott Hoffman, Harrisburg; grandchildren, Derek Harhigh and his fiancee Ashlea Shannon, Pearce and Alyssa Harhigh, and Danika and Dax Hoffman, all of Harrisburg; a sister, Ann Majike, Easthampton, Mass; two brothers Harry Harhigh, Huntingdon Valley and George Harhigh, Harrisburg; nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service and interment with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.  There will be no procession from the funeral home.  Relatives and friends are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. for the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the Penn State General Scholarship Fund (SXXGS) at Penn State university, donor and Member Services, 130 Bristol Bldg., University Park, PA  16802
