Ernest T. Mazeika

Ernest T. Mazeika, 87, of Girardville, passed away Monday at Shenandoah Senior Living Community.
Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Wildcat, Girardville, he was a son of the late Frank and Ann Leckner Mazeika. He was a graduate of Butler Township High School.
He was a US Army veteran of WWII having served with the Medical Detachment and last stationed at Camp Kilmer, NJ.
Ernest was a pipefitter and worked from the Pipefitters Union Local 524, Scranton. He previously worked as a coal miner in several local collieries.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Girardville and the American Legion Post #398, Frackville.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 61 years Helen Shelcusky Mazeika, Girardville; two daughters; Kim Elchisack and her husband Michael, Pine Grove; and Debbie Sosnoski and her husband Eddie, Girardville; two sons; Gary Mazeika and his wife Kris, Ashland and Thomas Birster, Germantown; 6 grandchildren; Justin Cunningham, Gary Mazeika, Jr. and Ryan Mazaika, Shawn Sosnoski and Keven Sosnoski and Thomas Birster, Jr.; 3 great-grandchildren; Shawn, Zachary and Mason Sosnoski; a brother; Daniel Mazeika, Philadelphia; nieces and nephews.
Religious Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville, with Rev. Edward B. Connelly, as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30 a.m. till time of service at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
