Bernard E. “Big Ben” Lapachinsky, 87, of Frackville passed away peacefully Saturday morning at his residence with his family by his side.
 
Born in Maizeville, December 12, 1926, he was a son of the late Charles and Veronica Bendinsky Lapachinsky. 
 
He attended Gilberton Schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War having served with the 3rd Cml. Mtr. Battalion, Fort Bragg, NC.
 
Big Ben worked for Pennsylvania Power and Light (PP&L) for 42 years and retired as a Line Crew Leader.
 
He was a member of Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, Frackville 
 
Big Ben was an avid hunter and fisherman; he was a past president of the South-End Field and Stream, Wipporwill Dam, Frackville and past president of the East-End Field and Stream, Shenandoah. He was a member of the American Legion Post #398; B. P. O. Elks Lodge #1533; Masonic F&AM Lodge #747, all of Frackville; He coached little league baseball and midget football and was a member of the former Adukaitis bowling team and was a member of local softball and dart teams.
 
He was preceded in death by two sisters; Clara A. Dunelavage, Sister Mary Camille (Dorothy Lapachinsky) member of the Franciscan Sisters, three brothers; Chuck, Gene and Fran Lapachinsky.
 
A devoted husband, wonderful father and grandfather, Big Ben is survived by his wife of 51 years Patricia A Subalusky Lapachinsky, Frackville; two daughters Candice Lapachinsky and husband Jeff Rubendall, Elysburg and Jennifer Lapachinsky Rompalo and husband Frank, Frackville; son, Scott Lapachinsky and wife Heidi, Pottsville; four grandchildren; Molly Lapachinsky, Cash Rompalo, Grant Lapachinsky and Grace Lapachinsky; two sisters; Alma Wassell, Frackville, Alice Sayer, Oley; a brother, Joseph Lapp, member of the Christian Brothers, MD; nieces and nephews.
 
The Family requests that a Prayer is recited in Big Ben’s remembrance. Gravesite services with Military Honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
