Helen Chabin Mazur, 85, of Maizeville, passed away Thursday evening at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown, with her family by her side.
Born in Mahanoy Plane, she was a daughter of the late Enoch and Eva Steranka Chabin. She was a graduate of Gilberton High School, class of 1947
Helen loved her family, playing games with her grandchildren, cooking, spending time with her dog, Solara and taking day trips to the local casinos.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Frackville and a former member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Maizeville.
The last member of her immediate family, in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters and her husband Stephen Mazur, Sr., in 1993.
Helen is survived by two daughters; Evelyn Mazur, Maizeville, with whom she resided and Stephanie Leiby and husband Ned, Pottsville; a son, Stephen Mazur and wife Karyn, Frackville; four grandchildren; Amanda Leiby, Stephen N and Alexander A. Mazur and Derek Flail; several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning in St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Roman Pitula, as celebrant. As per Helen’s request there are no calling hours at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Michael Parish Cemetery, Englewood/Frackville.
