Born in Harman, VA he was a son of the late Fonzy Guy and Evelyn Blenz Chapel.  He was a graduate of Mt. Carmel Area High School, class of 1969.

Richard worked for PP&L as an underground electrician for 20 years.

He was of the Catholic Faith and was a member of the IBEW Local #1500 and a member of the of the Clover Fire Company, Anthracite Fire Company, both of Mt. Carmel, and the Wilburton Fire Company.

Richard enjoyed camping, fishing and loved being with family and friends

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ann Purcell and a brother, James K. Chapel.

Richard is survived by his wife of 12 years Donna M. Estock Chapel, Mt. Carmel; two sons; Richard A. Chapel and his wife Amy, Kulpmont and Zeke Chapel and his wife Valarie, Marion Heights; three grandchildren; Zoe, Julie and Maddy; 2 brothers; George H. Chapel and wife Kim, Fredericksburg, VA and Michael T. Chapel and wife Margaret, Bloomsburg; several nieces and nephews

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
