Basil Cuttic, 85, a lifelong resident of Frackville passed away Thursday morning at the Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Frackville

Born in Frackville, February 23, 1933, he was a son of the late Michael and Eva White Cuttic.  He was a graduate of Frackville high School, class of 1951

He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the 1st Marine Division Fox Company and received the Korean Service Medal with 3 stars and the United Nations Service Medal.

He worked as a Correctional Officer for the Schuylkill County Prison before retiring.

He was a member of the Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, Frackville, the American Legion Post #398, Frackville a life member of the Goodwill Hose Company #1, Frackville and a member of the Marine Corps League, Kulpmont.    

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother; Michael Cuttic, March 16, 2018; and a sister; Jean Holowaty, April 1, 2013.

Basil is survived by a brother Andrew Cuttic and his wife Karen, the Villages, FL; Niece and Nephews; Larissa Holowaty, Frackville, Mike Holowaty, Gordon; Michael Cuttic and his wife Sara, New Bern, NC; Matthew Cuttic, Kulpmont; Steven Cuttic and wife Hilliary, Frackville; Mark Cuttic and his wife Bri, Frackville; Ben Cuttic and his wife Daniela, Highland Ranch, CO; great-nieces; Caitlyn, Emily, Mia, Ava, Emma and Sarah; great-nephews; Hunter and Clayton and step great-nephew Chase.

Religious Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, Frackville with the Very Rev. James Jadick, as celebrant.  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday morning at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville.  Interment with military honors will be in Holy Ascension Parish Cemetery, Englewood/Frackville.

In lieu of flowers donation can be made in Basil’s name to the Marine Corps League, Black Diamond Detachment, #846, 932 Scott St. Kulpmont, PA  17834
