Leonard J. Laurusevage, 95, of Limerick, formerly of Frackville and Ringtown, passed away Saturday at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Veterans Center, Spring City.

Born in Gilberton, June 15, 1923 he was a son of the late Anthony and Helen Burntitus Laurusevage.  He was a graduate of Frackville High School, class of 1942.

He was a US Navy veteran of WWII having served on the USS Auburn being engaged in both Iwo Jima and Okinawa battles and earned the rank of radioman third class.

He was a member of St. Theresa of Calcutta Catholic Parish, Schwenksville and the former Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, Frackville.

He was the owner of the former Leonard’s Floral Shop, Frackville and was well known as the “Cheese Man” from Ringtown.

He was a life member of the American Legion Post #398 and a life member of the Goodwill Hose Company #1 both of Frackville and a member of the Catholic War Vets, Columbia, PA.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother; Anthony and a sister; Helen Jankowski.

Leonard is survived by his wife or 58 years, Theresa M. Drabnis Laurusevage, Limerick; daughter; Helene Laurusevage and her husband David Magee, Sanatoga; son; Leonard J. Laurusevage, II and his wife Virginia, Mahanoy City; and daughter; Francine Laurusevage and companion Thomas Weiser; Pottstown; two grandsons; Marshal and Lucas Laurusevage; nieces and nephews
