Jean E. Farnsworth (Nan), 88 a lifelong resident of Frackville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Schuylkill Center in Pottsville.
Born in Turkey Run, December 7, 1928, she was a daughter of the late John and Kate Beck Dower. She attended Mahanoy Township Schools.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Frackville, The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post #398, Frackville and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Ashland.
She was a retired Interior Decorator of 32 years at Broadmoor Holmes, Ringtown and was last employed as a waitress at the former Kmart cafeteria, Frackville.
Her happiness came from cooking Sunday dinners and taking care of her family, Sunday dinner usually ended with her famous chocolate peanut butter cake.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Farnsworth, in 1956; a son Russell Farnsworth, in 2011; and her companion and soul-mate of 40 years, Roy Stroebel, in 2007. She was the last member of 13 brothers and sisters.
Jean is survived by her daughter Betty Derricott, Frackville; three grandchildren; Angela Krieger, George Oakum, Jr. and Ann Louise Abrachinsky; eight great-grandchildren; Logan, Ayla, George, Samantha, Tyler, Cierra, Isaac and Colby; nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Frackville with Rev, John Wallace, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church from 10 till time of Service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
