Olga Semanchick, 91, formerly of Frackville and a resident of Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill, Pottsville, passed away peacefully Saturday evening.

Born in Frackville, December 19, 1924, she was a daughter of the late John P. and Helen Bresnie Semanchik..

Olga was a graduate of the former Frackville High School and St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, New Jersey.  In the course of her professional life, she graduated from Columbia University and taught nursing at Rutgers University.  She completed graduate school at NYU in elementary education and spent the second half of her career teaching elementary school in Newark, New Jersey.

She was an avid reader and traveler, she generously supported numerous educational, social and medical organizations locally and nationally.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother John, sister, Betty Motz, and an infant brother, Russell.

Olga is survived by a brother, Ted; New Port Richey, FL; sisters; Helen Polanchyck, Danville and Sonja Mucha, Hancock, N.H.; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville.  Private Services for immediate family will be held at Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, Frackville with Rev. James Jadick, as celebrant.  Interment will be in Holy Ascension Cemetery, Englewood/Frackville

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Olga’s name can be made to Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, 209 S. Lehigh Ave., Frackville, PA  17931; the Frackville Library; 56 N. Lehigh Ave. Frackville, Pa  17931 or the organization of the donor’s choosing.
