Agnes J. Romaniscon, 99 years of age, of 101 McKnight Street, Gordon, Pennsylvania, entered into her eternal after-life Saturday morning, November 26, 2016, at Luther Ridge, Seider’s Hill, Pottsville, after a brief illness.  Agnes was born on August 25, 1917 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, to Andrew and Nelly Gober Beneshunas.  

            Agnes was married 70 years to Michael Romaniscon of Raven Run, who preceded Agnes in death in 2005.  Agnes was employed by the Ashland State General Hospital as an administrator for years until her retirement in 1974.  She and her husband Michael lived on Malone’s Road in Butler Township where they raised four children, Anna Mae, Steven, Andrea, and Agnes. 

In addition to her husband; she was preceded in death by daughters; Andrea Brady, Agnes Romaniscon and Anna Mae Hampton, as well as her three sisters, Irene Piccolo, Nelly Watkins and Anna Altemose.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Constance Romaniscon.      

            Agnes belonged to the former Our Lady of Good Council Church in Gordon, Pennsylvania. Agnes will always be remembered as legendary cook and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.     

Agnes is survived by her son Steven Romaniscon of Florida, her son-in-law, Charles “Chick” Hampton, her granddaughter, Carole Mishlanie, wife of Raymond Mishlanie, grandson Atty. Lloyd R. Hampton and his wife, Deborah Hampton, beloved great-grand-daughter Kierstynn, grandson David M. Hampton, grandson Atty. John M. Hampton and his wife, Cynthia Hampton.  She is also survived by grandson John Brady, grandson Michael Brady and his wife Karen, great grandson Andrew Brady, great- grand-daughter Ashley Brady, and great-great grandson Kyler, all of Florida.

In New Jersey, she is survived by step-grandson Joseph Gesmondi and his wife Debbie Gesmondi, and great step granddaughters Sienna and Arianna.

             Agnes lived a simple country life and cared deeply about her friends and family.  Agnes loved playing bridge and spending time with her bridge club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday November 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Ashland, with Rev. Paul Rothermel, as celebrant.  Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.  Interment will be in St. Michael’s  Cemetery in Shenandoah Heights.
