Genevieve M. Halupa

Genevieve M. Badowsky Halupa, 93, of Frackville passed away early Monday morning at the Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Frackville.
Born in Summit Hill, June 20, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine Janis Badowsky. She was a graduate of Lansford High School, class of 1940.
Genevieve was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Frackville, active in St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church; she was a member of St. Ann's Ladies Guild and was a Pierogie Maker.
She worked as a seamstress for the former Rosenau Brothers Factory, Lansford and several other local garment factories.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Halupa, Sr., in 2007; a son; Frank Halupa, Jr., in 2001; and nine sister and brothers.
Genevieve is survived by a daughter; Marianne Shapansky, Barnesville; a son; Stephen and his wife Jane Halupa, Frackville; Grandchildren; Amy and Lisa Halupa, Justin and his wife Samantha Shapansky; Michael Shapansky and Donald and Penny Schmidt; a great-grandson Kyler Shapansky; a sister; Helen Badowsky, Lansford; daughter-in-law; Anna Marie Halupa, Brandonville; and caretaker; Betty Puls; nieces and nephews
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Robert Finlan, pastor, as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 Thursday morning at the church. Interment will be in St. Michael's Parish Cemetery, Englewood/Frackville.
