Joseph F. Hovanec
Joseph F. Hovanec, 82, of Elizabethtown, passed away Wednesday evening at his residence. Born in Oneida, November 11, 1932, he was a son of the late John and Agnes Kapish Hovanec. He was a graduate of Sheppton High School and worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Hershey. Joseph was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the 1641 18th infantry regiment, and was last stationed at Camp Kilmer, NJ. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Elizabethtown. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Sylvia U. Subalusky Hovanec, Dec. 9, 2013; and, a brother; John Hovanec, March 23, 1995. He is survived by a sister, Agnes Singley, Florida; sisters- and brothers-in-law’s; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Robert Finlan, pastor, as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. till time of Mass at the church. Interment with military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
