Dorothy Gera
Dorothy Gera, 84, of Spencer Street, Frackville, passed unexpectedly Monday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown and is now in the arms of the Blessed Mother and our loving Lord.
 
Born in Weirton, W.V., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary ‘Derosky’ Torbich. Preceding her in death was her Husband of 54 years, Michael Gera, her sister Anna Bollock and brothers, John and William Torbich.
 
Dorothy is survived by her four children; two daughters, Dorothy Marie, Schuylkill Haven; Barbara Darvell and her husband Jerry, Freeland; two sons, Michael and John, at home; a sister Agnes Saunderson, Lake Placid, NY; a brother, Albert Torbich, Colliers, W.V.; five grandchildren; Terri-Lee, Christopher, Steven, Lucinda and James; great-grandchildren, Tristen and Ivie; a brother-in-law, Rev. Francis T. Gera, Melbourne, FL; a sister-in-law, Julia Gera, Frackville; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
 
Dorothy (Dot, Doroth) was a caring and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, family ambassador and friend. She grew up in Weirton, W.V.; attended Weir H.S. and worked at Isaly’s Ice Cream Parlor. She moved to NJ and held jobs at Gordin Gin and then RCA. She met the love of her life, got married and started her family in Elizabeth, NJ and then moved to Frackville where she lived the rest of her life. She Loved her family, especially singing to her daughter Dorothy Marie, enjoyed cooking and liked to take trips and travel to visit family and friends.
 
Dorothy was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Mary’s (Dormition of the Mother of God) Byzantine Catholic church, St. Clair and GCU. She will be sadly and forever missed by her family and friends.
 
Religious services, Parastas will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville. Divine Liturgy with burial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, St. Clair, with the Very Rev. Francis M. Twardzik as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and again from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday. Interment will be in St. Michael parish cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy’s name to St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 131 S. Morris St., St. Clair, PA 17970
