Arlene E. (Rhodes) Davis, 82, of Frackville, passed away Sunday, October 26th at Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Frackville.
Born November 19, 1931, in Wildcat, Butler Township, she was a daughter of the late Dewey E. and Ethel Heiser Rhodes. She attended West Mahanoy Township Schools.
Arlene was a member of Trinity E.C. Church, Frackville, the Frackville Senior Citizens and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union
She worked in the garment industry in Frackville for 24 years.
Arlene was a foster mother to 56 children over a period of twelve years. She continued to use her compassion for others by working with elderly programs and mental health agencies until the age of 70. She was involved with many organizations that advocated for individuals with disabilities. She also served as a P.E.E.R. mentor at Broad Mountain Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by a beloved son, John O. Davis, in 2010 and three brothers; Alfred, Harold and Newton Rhodes.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter; Deborah Uholik and husband Frank, Shenandoah Heights; son; Emerson Davis and wife Donna, Arnold, MD; and daughter Darlene Kergick and husband Dennis, Frackville; and adopted son Keith Jones; six grandchildren; Ryan Sands and wife Nikki, Mattthew and Nathan Davis, Dennis, Melissa and Maggie Kergick; three great-grandcildren; Tyler and Jacob Sands and Francesca Uholik; a brother Claude Rhodes, East Brunswick, NJ; nieces and nephews
A Memorial Celebration of Arlene’s life will be held at 12:00 o’clock noon Saturday at Trinity E. C. Church, Frackville with Rev. Gene Stevenson, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. till time of service at the Church.
Inurnment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville at the convenience of the family
