Joseph M. Maletz, Sr.

Joseph M. Maletz, Sr., 86, of Frackville passed away unexpectedly Friday evening at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian St., Pottsville.
Born in New Boston, February 28, 1928 he was a son of the late John and Julia Stetz Maletz. He was a graduate of Mahanoy Township High School, class of 1945.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and also served in the Merchant Marine’s
Joseph worked for the former Alcoa Aluminum and Cressona Aluminum as a maintenance engineer for over 20 years before retiring.
He loved his family and friends and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and play sports.
He was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Frackville, the American Legion Post #998, Harrisburg and the East End Field and Stream, Frackville.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years Dorothy B. Rennick Maletz, in 1997; the last of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Lorraine Cygan and Helen Maletz and three brothers; Leo, John and Francis Maletz.
Joseph is survived by a daughter Jane Dando and her husband William, Harrisburg; a son Joseph M. Maletz, Jr. and wife Dawn, Stroudsburg; four grandchildren; Will, Casey, Jay and Paige; one great grandson, William; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Frackville with Rev. Leo Maletz, a nephew, as celebrant and Rev. Robert Finlan, pastor, con-celebrant;
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 6 -8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville and again Wednesday from 9:30 till time of Mass at St. Ann’s R.C. Church. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Mahanoy Township.
