Ralph L. Hummel, Sr.
Ralph L. Hummel, Sr., 76, a lifelong resident of Frackville passed away peacefully Saturday at Schuylkill Medical Center, East Norwegian St. Pottsville with his family by his side.
 
Born in Frackville, November 11, 1937 he was a son of the late Lou and Emma Neiswinder Hummel. He attended Frackville Schools

Ralph was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Frackville a life member of the BPO Elks #1533, the Goodwill Fire Company and the Friendship Fire Company all of Frackville.   He was a member of the FA& M Masonic Lodge #737, Frackville and a member of the Caldwell Consistory Valley of Bloomsburg.
He worked as a miner at a young age in the local collieries and then worked with several construction companies. He was owner of the former Hummel’s Café in Frackville for 17 years and retired as an equipment operator for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, playing cards and watching football.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Mardell Miller Hummel, in 1989; a daughter Deborah Hummel , in 1989; a brother, Albert “Absie” Hummel, in 2009; and a step-son George Taylor, Jr.; He was also preceded in death by several step-sisters and step-brothers.

Ralph is survived by a son Ralph Hummel, Jr. and his wife Cathy, Frackville, with whom he resided; four daughters; Kathy Tarn and husband Bill, New Lisbon, NJ; Darlene Boyer and husband Jack, Girardville; Donna Dillman and husband Bob and Diana Hummel-Andrewcavage and husband Mark both of Frackville; Grandchildren; Tom, Tammy and Brian Wall; Tony Melnick, Melissa Reidel, Tara Dillman, Jen Himes, Holden and Elizabeth Andrewcavage; George Taylor, III, Tanya Tolomay and Nicole Murray; several Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Religious Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday morning at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville, with Rev. Kerry Smart, Pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation form 6 – 9 pm Tuesday evening and again from 10 – 11 Wednesday morning at the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Frackville.

In lieu of flowers or donations the family request that you extend a “Good Deed” for someone in honor of Ralph Hummel’s memory.
