Mary Kocherzot Lopez, 86, of Frackville, passed away peacefully at her residence with her daughter by her side.
Born in Frackville, August 17, 1927, she was a daughter of the late George and Sophia Polifka Kocherzot and step-daughter of the late John Mucha, Sr.
Mary graduated from Frackville High School, class of 1945 and from the Pratt Institute of Brooklyn, New York with a degree in Home Economics specializing in Theatrical Costumes Design.
She was a member of the Holy Ascension Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, Frackville.
Mary worked within the New York City garment industry as a freelance designer for many years. She was hired by Simplicity Pattern Company as a pattern maker and worked the final eighteen years of her career at the McCall’s Pattern Company.
She lived in New York City from 1945 to 1994, before her retirement to Frackville.
Mary lived a life to the fullest. She was creative, colorful, adventurous, fashionable and an accomplished pianist. Mary cherished time spent with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother John Mucha, Jr and her husband Jose P. Lopez.
Mary is survived by her only daughter Cheryl Pastucka and husband David, Frackville; she has four grandchildren; Magisterial District Judge, Christina E. Hale, wife of Howard C. Smith; Mia Egbert and husband Daniel; Sofia Capone and husband Gino and Olivia Pastucka. She has four great-grandchildren and was excitedly expecting a fifth great-grandchild in June; and dearly loved cousins, nieces and nephews
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm noon Saturday in Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, Frackville with Rev. James Jadick as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation form 9 – 11:30 am Saturday morning at the Albert L Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville. Interment will be in Holy Ascension Parish Cemetery, Englewood/Frackville,
